3D Artist

Camouflaj, the maker of “meaningful games” such as the episodic series RÉPUBLIQUE, is looking for a 3D Artist to join our ambitious VR-based action game project, Marvel’s IRON MAN VR.

As a 3D Artist at Camouflaj you will work alongside other Environment artists and take constructive feedback from our Art Director and your peers. You will be expected to stay on task and show initiative while following our custom workflows that are fully documented. Along with modeling game assets you will also help review and fix outsourced assets. Your primary goal will be building optimized content while hitting a high-quality bar, on time and within budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborate with Art Director, Leads and other Artists to create realistic and believable assets
Ability to provide accurate estimates of how long it will take to complete a task given technical restrictions
Comfortable with proxy modeling to establish basic proportions of props needed for gameplay and generating kits
Capable of creating, managing and reviewing outsource content
A willingness to collaborate with artists to hit common milestones on time

REQUIRED SKILLS:
Comprehensive modeling and texturing portfolio showing a range of realistic asset from start to finish
Experience using 3DStudio Max (preferred), however Maya can be used just modeling if needed
Experience using Substance Designer and Painter for texturing
Experience using Zbrush and can show a body of work sculpting
Can create and manipulate texture maps in a PBR: Metallic workflow – Albedo, Normal, AO, Metallic, Roughness maps
An excellent understanding of the value of maximizing UV space and able to demonstrate this in their own work
A critical awareness of the cost of a game asset relative to the target engine – poly counts, texture sizes, draw calls
Ability to collaborate effectively with other team disciplines (engineers, design, animation, audio)
Willingness to learn new workflows, tools, from both internal and 3rd party developers

BONUS POINTS:
Experience with Substance Designer and Painter in a development pipeline
Experience using the Unity Engine
Experience with console development
Experience with VR development
A desire to utilize new techniques that increase art quality and efficiency across disciplines
History working in a small studio environment
A basic understanding of Photogrammetry
